On Friday 4th and Saturday 5th October, fourteen 2°EM and 3°EM pupils from The Grange attended the 7th Annual Model United Nations Conference at Craighouse School. Over the two days, they collaborated with 260 other pupils from twenty schools to discuss, debate and decide on solutions to the above questions, along with many other pressing international issues.
It is very difficult to stand up in front of a room full of your peers and deliver a series of speeches on such sensitive topics, especially in your second language, yet our students performed exceptionally once again. They formed alliances, expressed themselves diplomatically, asked challenging questions, and acted professionally throughout. They were a credit to both The Grange and themselves.
How can we most effectively solve gender-based violence in conflict zones? Should schools start collecting students’ biometric data? Is it ever acceptable to violate another country’s sovereignty to solve a humanitarian crisis?
