Our School recently had the privilege of hosting a visit from 20 professionals from the Astoreca Foundation, an organisation from Chile renowned for its excellence in teaching and learning within schools serving vulnerable communities. The visit was a tremendous success, offering a unique opportunity for both our schools to share best practices and learn from one another.

The feedback we received from the Astoreca team was incredibly positive and a testament to the hard work and dedication of our Staff and pupils. They were particularly impressed with our pupils’ autonomy, noting how our pupils were able to work independently and with sustained focus, even without constant teacher direction. This highlights our children’s joy of learning.

Astoreca also praised our approach to differentiation, noting the use of varied resources like “spicy and mild” worksheets and the use of iPads to meet the individual needs of our pupils. Our Reading Programme received special mention within the concept of differentiation for its focus on pupil choice and ensuring books are matched to each child’s reading level, a practice that is clearly having a significant impact.

Our vibrant School culture was another key highlight. They saw how our traditions, history, and values are woven into the fabric of daily school life, fostering a powerful sense of pride and belonging among our pupils.

The Astoreca Foundation’s visit was a powerful reminder of what we do so well as a School. While we are always striving for continuous improvement, this feedback from such a respected organisation reaffirms that we are providing an outstanding education and a nurturing environment for our pupils. We are incredibly proud of this recognition and excited about the new ideas and strategies we will be bringing into our classrooms as a result of this collaboration.
