The Grange School hosted the opening round of the ESU Debate Tournament

The Senior School English Debate team hosted the opening round of the ESU Debate Tournament at The Grange on Saturday 9th of September. A grand total of 10 teams from 10 different schools attended and performed wonderfully.

The Grange entered two teams for each category: the impromptu and prepared debates. Debate is an excellent way to enhance one’s oracy and  communication, persuasion, and critical thinking skills. While also requiring pupils to develop effective tools for research, organization, and presentation, as well as strategies to overcome fears of public speaking. Our pupils performed exceptionally and we are extremely proud to reignite this strong tradition at our school.

We hope to continue to grow and promote debate in the Senior School and remind pupils that new members are always welcome to join our Debate and Model United Nations Club.

Congratulations to The Grange Debate Team: Camila Valenzuela, Matilde Montt and Amanda Behncke for Prepared Debate, and Julián Contreras, Camilo Contreras and Paz González for Impromptu Debate.

A special thanks to our volunteers & timekeepers: Borja Valenzuela, Gabriel Lira, Nicolás Brethauer, Noa Duluc, Samuel Levine, Manuel Pereira, Emilia Altamirano and Laura Marchetti.
