Mr Carlos Packer-Comyn joined The Grange School in 2009 from New Zealand where he had been teaching at intermediate level. At The Grange he first worked as a form teacher and Head of the Science Department in the Lower Prep. He then took up the role of Head of Year in 6th Básico in the Upper Prep where he taught Maths, English and Philosophy. In 2013 he was appointed Head of Upper Prep and became a member of the Senior Leadership Team. In 2018 he was appointed Head of Senior and Deputy Headmaster, which are the roles he currently holds. He was Acting Headmaster during one semester in 2021, awaiting the arrival of our Headmaster Mr Eatough. Mr Packer-Comyn also teaches French in the Senior School and he is the license holder for the Duke of Edinburgh´s International Programme. Before working in education, he was a current affairs journalist, living for extended periods in South Africa, Rwanda and the Republic of Congo. He was also the editor of a French arts and culture magazine in Brussels. Carlos Packer-Comyn worked in the wine industry for several years, first in sales and marketing, to later become the export manager for the largest wine producer and exporter in New Zealand. Carlos Packer-Comyn grew up in an international and multi-lingual environment. He attended an independent French-speaking secondary school, studied at a Music Academy and obtained a university degree in communication and adult education at the reputable Institut des Hautes Etudes en Communications Sociales. He obtained a postgraduate degree in education from the University of Auckland when he was in his late thirties. He is passionate about all aspects of education and feels immensly priviledged to be working at The Grange.
