Carmen Gloria Gómez joined The Grange School in September 1980 after graduating as Profesor de Estado en Inglés in Universidad de Chile. She worked in the English Department, Senior School as a teacher of English for top sets 1 & 2 from 7th Básico up to 4th Medio for 9 years. During that time, she also taught the “Special English” classes in 5th and 6th Básico and led Junior Drama in the Middle School from 3rd to 6th Básico. For a year and a half, she stopped working to raise her young family and returned to The Grange School in 1991 as a 1st and 2nd Básico form teacher in the Preparatory School. In the summer of 1999, she visited various primary schools in UK and worked as an assistant teacher in Hookstone Chase Primary School in Harrogate, North Yorkshire in Year 2 and 3. During the last years at The Grange School, she has held different responsibilities and leadership roles including 2nd Básico coordinator, 1st and 2nd Básico coordinator, and Head of year in Prekinder and Kinder. In 2012 The Infant House, PK & K merged with Thatcher Building, 1st and 2nd Básico to form the Lower Prep and Carmen Gloria was appointed Deputy Head Pastoral. In 2014 she became Head of Lower Prep, a position she is proud to hold, leading with passion for and belief in childhood education.
