This week, we are proud to highlight our Head of Upper Prep School, Mrs Rebeca Aguilera, who began her role at the start of this year. Although new to this position, Mrs Aguilera is no stranger to The Grange School — she graduated from the School in 1984 and has been closely involved in our Community for many years.
After completing her degree in Primary Education at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC), Mrs Aguilera began her teaching career at The Grange School, where she worked from 1989 to 2008. During that time, she held numerous leadership roles, including Head Teacher, Head of Department in the Preparatory and Middle School, Head of Colour, member of the Admissions Committee, and Coordinator of the Induction Process for new teachers both locally and internationally.
Her academic background includes a Master’s Degree in Dirección y Gestión Escolar, a Special Education degree, and certification as an Educational Coach from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto.
Beyond her time at The Grange, Mrs Aguilera has enriched her professional path through roles such as Director of Studies in various Santiago schools, university lecturer in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at Universidad Diego Portales, Universidad Finis Terrae, and Universidad del Desarrollo, and as a consultant for the Ministerio de Educación (MINEDUC) and Universidad Metropolitana de Ciencias de la Educación (UMCE). She has also served as a member of the National Accreditation Committee, evaluating teaching careers in Chilean universities, and provided institutional and pedagogical consulting in both Chile and abroad.
Throughout her career, Mrs Aguilera has remained deeply committed to developing professional competencies in teachers and middle leaders. Her mission is to foster strong academic and social learning among pupils, and to align teachers around the principles of instructional leadership.
