On Wednesday 8th, the Upper Prep pupils gathered for their monthly Assembly, led by the English Department. We began in silence, followed by the singing of the School Song, a reminder of our values of friendship, effort, and fair play.

Upper Prep pupils shared with us the great work they have been doing in English, centered around the theme of Journeys. 6° Básico pupils performed two emotive spoken word poems. 5° Básico pupils first shared their Beyond the Horizon unit, in which they wrote adventure stories about explorers’ journeys. Then they shared their unit in which they created stories about microbes’ journeys. 4° Básico pupils shared work from their journey to the Amazon rainforest unit, where they wrote journals and persuasive leaflets in role as scientists and researchers. 3° Básico shared their Return Narratives, acting as authors who had written best-selling books where two characters go on a journey, and one decides to stay behind while the other returns home. 

The assembly continued with the presentation of the Roll of Honour, where pupils from 3°, 4°, 5°, and 6° Básico were recognised for achieving 9 or more positive annotations. Colour Captains spoke to the children to encourage best effort and enthusiasm for the upcoming steeplechase.

A special focus was placed on the recipients for the Fair Play board. Pupils reflected on how this value goes beyond sports – it is about honesty, teamwork, respect, and always striving to do the right thing in daily life.

The Assembly closed with a moment of remembrance for Mr Marco Rocha, and a quiet dismissal, encouraging pupils to carry the lessons of respect, fairness, and community with them throughout their School day.
