Last week, The Grange School was proud to send nine of our MUN Club pupils to CraigMUN 2025 to participate in two days of debate and negotiations on subjects as diverse as leveraging Artificial Intelligence for sustainable development goals in Sub-Saharan Africa, combating the illegal trafficking of arms worldwide, and the rise of right wing ideologies in North American and European nations and the effect in adjacent states.  Eight of our pupils were assigned to be delegates, representing the following countries in a range of committees:

• Victoria Carey represented Cambodia in the UN Women’s Committee
• Sofía Álvarez represented Indonesia in the UN Women’s Committee
• Emma Lewinsohn represented Japan in the Science and Technological Development Committee
• Clemente Pacheco represented China in the Science and Technological Development Committee
• Francisco Soto and Fernanda Marambio both represented South Africa in the UN Security Council
• Lucía Doren represented Italy in the UN General Assembly 4
• Lucía Wood represented Singapore in the UN General Assembly 4

In addition, one of our most experienced pupil, Matilde Montt, was asked to be a Chair in charge of one of the committees. Only the most responsible and perceptive pupils are asked by other schools to be Chairs, and this is a reflection on the hard work and diligence that Matilde has put into her past MUN performances.

All of our delegates performed very well and, most importantly, enjoyed their experience at the conference. Once again, two of our pupils won individual awards:

• Clemente Pacheco was awarded Honourable Mention for his committee
• Sofía Álvarez was awarded Best Delegate for her committee

This is the sixth consecutive MUN conference where at least two of our pupils have won awards, which is a testament to the talents and abilities of the young people we have at The Grange School.
