The theme for The GRAF 2026 will be Light. Timeless yet contemporary, Light offers endless possibilities for exploration. It is both a physical phenomenon and a powerful metaphor, symbolising knowledge, hope, and transformation. This theme encourages interdisciplinary connections across science, literature, drama, music, and the visual arts, inviting our Community to reflect on how Light shapes imagination, creativity, and discovery.

We are delighted to announce that The GRAF 2026 will be developed in collaboration with Chilean artist Iván Navarro. Born in Santiago and based in New York, Navarro has earned international acclaim for his striking use of neon, mirrors, and electricity. His luminous sculptures transform everyday objects into artworks that question power, confinement, and freedom. His recent exhibitions abroad include Celestialand (New York, 2022), Constellations of Fate (Brussels, 2022), and Planetarium (Paris, 2021), reinforcing his reputation as one of Chile’s leading contemporary artists. Beyond sculpture, Navarro has also explored music, contributing to the post-punk movement and weaving rhythm and energy into his artistic language. His interdisciplinary approach makes him an ideal partner for a theme that bridges art, science, and sound.

As we prepare for The GRAF 2026, we encourage families to explore the theme of Light during the children’s holidays. Simple experiments with prisms and shadows, creative writing inspired by candlelight and nature’s innate luminosity, and musical interpretations of rhythm and pulse, are all engaging ways to bring the theme to life at home. By nurturing curiosity and imagination, parents can help children return to school with fresh perspectives and renewed enthusiasm.
