Dear Upper Prep families,
I hope you have had a restful and joyful summer break. It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2026 academic year at The Grange School. We begin this new cycle with enthusiasm, purpose, and a renewed commitment to the values that define us as a Community.
To our returning families, thank you for your continued trust and partnership; we look forward to another year of working closely together in support of our pupils.
To our new families joining The Grange for the first time, and to the parents of this year’s 3° Básico pupils who are entering Upper Prep, a very warm welcome. We are delighted to have you with us and look forward to accompanying your children as they begin this new stage of their Grangonian journey. Upper Prep is a vibrant, caring, and joyful environment, and we are confident that both you and your children will feel at home very quickly.
During this academic year -and especially throughout the first two weeks- we will place strong emphasis on reinforcing learning routines and expectations. This intentional focus will support pupils in developing positive habits, organisation, independence and self-regulation, while fostering a respectful environment that is calm, focused and conducive to high-quality learning. Establishing these foundations early allows pupils to engage confidently, feel secure in their routines, and make the most of every learning opportunity.
This year, Upper Prep will continue to place strong emphasis on our School Values and the Grangonian Profile, ensuring that pupils grow not only in their academic achievements, but also in their character, empathy, and sense of service. We deeply believe that education is about developing young people who are kind, thoughtful, resilient, and ready to contribute meaningfully to the world around them.
We also reaffirm our commitment to bilingualism, which is central to our educational project. Through language, pupils broaden their worldview, strengthen cognitive skills, and connect with others in richer, more meaningful ways. Our teachers will continue to support high-quality learning, building confidence and fluency across the curriculum.
An essential part of our work in Upper Prep is the care and wellbeing of our pupils. Our Pastoral Team, led by our Assistant Head Pastoral and our Heads of Year, will continue to provide close guidance, emotional support, and a safe environment where every child can feel seen, heard, and valued. We believe that children learn best when they feel safe and cared for, and this principle guides every decision we make.
To our teachers and staff: I would like to begin the year by expressing my gratitude for your commitment, professionalism, and dedication. Upper Prep is strong because of the quality of its people: those who teach, guide, support, and inspire. Thank you for the work you do each day for our pupils and for one another.
As we face this new academic year, I invite all of you, families, pupils, and Staff, to join us in building a 2026 filled with learning, joy, purpose, and a sense of a strong Community.
