This week, 5° Básico began their 2-night, 3-day outdoor experience at Río Colorado. While 5°A and D are currently away enjoying the wide range of activities on offer, 5°B, 5°F, and 5°G are eagerly awaiting their turn next week.

Earlier this week, 5°C and 5°E returned from their trip, bringing back many memorable experiences and stories to share.

One of the most valuable aspects of the outing was the opportunity for pupils to strengthen bonds within their newly mixed classes. Through shared challenges and activities, pupils worked together, supported one another, and had the chance to see their teachers in a different light outside the classroom setting.

The natural surroundings of Río Colorado also provided a rich learning environment. Pupils connected with nature during hikes, observing animals such as llamas and listening to the birdsong in the early mornings. They also practiced practical outdoor skills, including identifying different leaves and learning how moss growing on the south side of trees can help with orientation.

Teamwork was a recurring theme throughout the experience. Pupils learned how to build their own tents together and collaborated to prepare and cook their own pizzas, among other activities that required communication, cooperation, and problem-solving.

For many pupils, the trip also offered an opportunity to build resilience. Being away from home can bring moments of anxiety, homesickness, and challenging tasks. With the support of their peers and teachers, pupils faced these difficulties and grew in confidence and independence.

Most importantly, the pupils returned happy, healthy, and full of new experiences, carrying with them memories that will stay with them long after the trip has ended.
