On Tuesday, 26th May, pupils from 5° Básico B took part in their Spirit of Service (SoS) outing to Centro Abierto Los Anhelos. In preparation for the visit, the class worked together to plan and organise an activity that would be enjoyable and meaningful for the young children they were going to meet. During the outing, they surprised the younger children with a mystery box, finger-painted autumn trees and played with lego blocks. This experience gave pupils the opportunity to demonstrate care, responsibility and leadership while supporting members of the wider community.

One highlight of the visit was creating autumn trees, using the fingers to paint on top of a cartulina tree. Art became a common language where creativity joined both children from Los Anhelos and The Grange School.

Reflecting on the experience, our pupils shared, “They had a lot of energy, and while helping others, we could notice that everyone needs help”; “While helping others, we could notice that some people are shy, and they need respect”.

Overall, the outing was a valuable opportunity for pupils to learn, serve others and grow through meaningful connections.
