In our library sessions, our pupils explored the lives and work of different women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) who have been pioneers in their respective fields.

We explored non-fiction books related to five different scientists and their discoveries.

Prekinder pupils learnt about Mary Anning and how her passion for fossils led to the discovery of previously unknown marine reptiles.

Kinder pupils listened to the story of Marie Curie’s life and how her determination and love of knowledge led her to win two Nobel Prizes.

1° Básico discovered the work of Inge Lehmann, the seismologist who discovered that the Earth’s inner core is solid, and Vera Rubin, whose continuous observation and analysis of space helped scientists understand that 95% of the universe is made up of dark matter.

2° Básico pupils explored how the vision and relentless curiosity of Jane Goodall made her one of the world’s leading experts in the study of chimpanzees.

Through these inspiring pioneers, our pupils learnt that girls belong in STEM just as much as boys, and that there are still countless discoveries waiting for their curiosity, creativity and determination.
