Last week, our 3° Básico pupils had an exciting start to their new Science unit on the Solar System with a special visit from AstroKidz, an astronomy education programme created by the award-winning Anglo-Chilean Tagua Tagua Observatory.

The AstroKidz team transformed our auditorium by installing an inflatable planetarium dome, where pupils enjoyed an immersive experience exploring the wonders of the universe. During the presentation, they travelled through our Solar System, observed planets and constellations, and discovered remarkable images of celestial bodies beyond Earth.

The visit provided a memorable introduction to the unit, sparking curiosity and encouraging pupils to further explore the fascinating world of astronomy.

The experience continued with an interactive presentation led by physicist and engineer Ian Hutcheon, who has spent over 15 years inspiring young people through astronomy education. Pupils learned about different celestial bodies, listened to the fascinating “sounds” of Jupiter, touched a real meteorite, and had the opportunity to ask many thoughtful questions about the universe.
