On Friday, 7th August, six pupils from The Grange School had the opportunity to participate in the ABSCh Drama Festival, held this year at The Mayflower School. This annual gathering of British schools in Chile celebrates creativity, collaboration and expression through the performing arts.

This year’s festival centred around Oedipus Rex by Sophocles, with workshops developed around a fragment from the play and the concept of “Inexorable Fate in Tragedy”. Pupils were invited to explore its themes and ideas through a diverse range of theatrical approaches, including physical and performative theatre, traditional Japanese theatre, street theatre, pantomime, movement and space, object theatre, improvisation and multimedia.

Through these workshops, pupils had the opportunity to experiment with different theatrical languages and forms of expression, while developing original interpretations and collaborating with pupils from other schools.

The Grange delegation stood out for their dedication, collaboration and expressive work on stage. Their active participation contributed to the vibrant atmosphere of the festival, while allowing them to develop their theatrical skills, discover new creative approaches and share their passion for drama with others.

Participating in the ABSCh Drama Festival was also a valuable opportunity for our pupils to represent The Grange School and demonstrate their commitment, creativity and collaborative spirit.
