I hope you had an enjoyable break and are looking forward to the Second Semester in Lower Prep. I would also like to extend a warm welcome to those Staff who are new: Miss Lucy and Miss Paola who are teachers, Miss Lucy having come from the UK; Miss Carla, Miss Valentina and Miss Catalina who are Teaching Assistants in Prekinder and Miss Paola who is our Lower Prep Administrative Assistant. We are all looking forward to becoming a part of our close-knit community in Lower Prep and are excited by the prospect of playing an active role in and making a positive contribution to your child’s learning journey.

I am grateful for Ms Carmen Gloria for handing over such a fabulous Lower Prep and I will work hard with our fantastic dedicated team to ensure that your child continues to be motivated, engaged, acquires a love of learning and achieves their very best.

I would also like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Ren Chinnadurai and I am the new Head of Lower Prep. I am really excited and privileged to have been given this opportunity to work with such a wonderful team. I am looking forward to getting to know both you and your children. I am an experienced teacher who has been a headteacher, a National Leader of Education, an executive headteacher, supported other schools and worked as a consultant; I have also been a governor of a university in the UK and a director of a UK based early childhood charity.

My passions within education are research into all aspects of teaching and learning, the arts and children´s literature. In my free time I enjoy cooking, travelling, visiting galleries, going to concerts and trying to keep fit! I have a daughter who is studying Fashion Design at The London College of Fashion, who is very much looking forward to spending time here, and I have a dog who will be joining me here in Santiago in January.

I have been here since last Tuesday, having flown in from Shanghai, via the UK. I have already been struck by the warmth and kindness of everyone I have met and of course the spectacular Andes and am really looking forward to making this my new home!

I look forward to meeting all of you over the next Semester.
